Week 3 - MKTG 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami - Chapter 3
Hello everyone!
This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 3 in Surfing the Tsunami (https://www.amazon.com/Surfing-Tsunami-Introduction-Artificial-Intelligence/dp/1976756340).
With over 50 articles exploring the data and truth about AI, author Todd Kelsey makes it clear that AI is here and has a direct impact on everyone and everything. You can either have a pessimistic or optimistic approach when considering AI and its impacts but Kelsey suggests becoming an AI realist and taking into consideration that AI has both positive and negative impacts. If you are only looking at data and articles that are on the extreme sides of the story, then you will ultimately be influenced and biased towards AI.
For example, read through the following article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/11/style/robots-jobs-children.html?_r=0
Imagine you only read that single article. I’m not sure how easily influenced you are, but I know that if I only read that article, I would be biased and take a pessimistic approach to AI.
Now read through the following article: https://www.economist.com/news/business/21727093-humans-will-supply-digital-services-complement-ai-artificial-intelligence-will-create-new
Imagine you only read that single article. If I had read only this article and nothing else, I would definitely have an optimistic approach.
The point that I am trying to make and author Todd Kelsey stresses is that you must do your own research and gather as much data as you possibly can because you can quickly sway into a pessimistic/optimistic attitude.
Although 50+ articles may seem excessive, Kelsey provides the perfect compilation of all things AI. To read through the articles and stay informed, visit: http://tsunami.ai/links
Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
