Week 5 - MKTG 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami - Chapter 5
Hello everyone!
This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 5 of Surfing the Tsunami (https://www.amazon.com/Surfing-Tsunami-Introduction-Artificial-Intelligence/dp/1976756340).
As a reminder, there are three levels as described by author Todd Kelsey for responding to AI.
The first level (as previously discussed in Chapter 4) is Adapting: learning more and paying attention to AI, keeping aware of where things are headed.
In Chapter 5, we discuss Level 2: Adopting AI. There are several ways to adopt AI, some of which include: adopting automation, advocating, looking into platforms that can help (old and new), as well as simply getting involved.
One clear example of truly adopting AI is in the car industry. Self-driving/electric cars have been progressively becoming more and more common in the world. In fact, UBS predicts that electric cars will account for 20 percent of new car sales in 2025, 40 percent in 2030, and almost 100 percent in 2040. So in less than 20 years, 100% of new car sales will be electric. If you are thinking of getting a new car soon, take the time to research the market (current and future) and understand where the car industry is heading. Furthermore, the rapid and drastic fluctuations in gas prices are pushing customers to purchase electric cars.
This is a very clear way to consider adopting AI in your life. Based on the current statistics and data (as noted by UBS), if you are looking to buy a new car, truly consider an electric one. Your future self will thank you for making that choice. Plus, there are so many options to choose from: Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, Tesla, and Honda have all released various electric vehicles for you to choose from.
There are of course other ways of adopting AI but this is just one to consider if you are thinking of buying a car sometime in the future.
Thank you for reading!
Until next time,
Mariana Munguia
