Week 6 - MKTG 6101 - Ascend Your Startup - Chapter 6

Hello everyone!

This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 6 of Ascend Your Startup (https://www.amazon.com/Ascend-Your-Start-Up-Disconnects-Accelerate/dp/1641466219).

In Chapter 6 of Ascend Your Startup, five major decisions are made to “Align Strategy with Process and Measurement”.
These five major decisions are as follows:

  • How will you apply your strengths to your weaknesses to find your superpower?

  • How will you fill the process disconnect?

  • How will you fill the measurement disconnect?

  • How will you measure the company as a customer-centric company?

  • What does your summit look like now?

One of the most vital understandings that new business owners must grasp is identifying their strengths and weaknesses, both internally and externally.

This is a common saying throughout any industry, “know your strengths and weaknesses.” In fact, this is often an interview question that is posed for interviewees regardless of what industry they are looking to start in. Truly understanding one's self and where we make the biggest impact versus where we may falter is essential as it helps guide you towards the work that you’d perform the strongest.

In Ascend Your Startup, we focus this understanding in our business. Know where your business’s strengths are and use them to overcome or ameliorate any weaknesses that they may have. One of the best ways to understand your company’s strengths and weaknesses is to perform a SWOT analysis. SWOT - Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats - is a simple but critical way to understand your business. See the image below for further details about SWOT:

Keep in mind that as your company progresses, its strengths and weaknesses may change. Adapt to those changes and make sure to constantly keep them in mind.

Thank you for reading!

Until next time,
