Week 8 - MKTG 6101 - Guerilla Marketing - Chapter 8

Hello everyone!

This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 8 of Guerilla Marketing (https://www.amazon.com/Guerilla-Marketing-Inexpensive-Strategies-Business-dp-0618785914/dp/0618785914).

In this chapter, we dove into research and how it affects your company’s marketing. Both paid and free research is not intended to be a substitute for inspiration. As noted by Guerilla Marketing, research provides a connection with your customers or prospects that can get you where you want to go faster and more profitable.

Just as it has been previously said time and time again, it is vital to listen to your customers. One of the easiest ways that you can begin to listen to your customers is by sending out questionnaires to your customers. Questionnaires are easy and cost almost nothing compared to the data and results that it provides. You can even entice your customers to fill out the long and lengthy questionnaire by providing some sort of reward after completion.

In addition to questionnaires, Guerilla Marketing suggests four inexpensive research methods (most common and effective) that can have a great effect on your company’s marketing. These include:

  1. Getting versed in search engines (Google, Bing, etc.)

  2. Going to the library, interacting with librarian

  3. Questionnaires (as mentioned above)

  4. Using the internet

Finally, I will leave you all with a quote from Guerilla Marketing that really stood out to me and even made me chuckle, “Ignorance is more expensive than paid research.”

Thank you for reading!

Until next time,

Mariana Munguia
