Week 4 - MKTG 6101 - Linkedin

Image
Hello everyone! This week I wanted to dive a little further into the discussion of Linkedin. Prior to this class, I had not used or even created a Linkedin account because I thought it was more of a social media page which followed the same toxic social media norms the way Facebook and Instagram do. After creating an account and being active for about 5 weeks now, I can see that there are some really clear similarities as well as distinctions. Similarities include being able to like, comment, and share posts that others have done. You can also customize your profile page to reflect who you are. However, that is where the differences begin. Your profile is based on your work experience, your career/business interests, and your educational background. One thing that stood out to me was that the whole point of creating a Linkedin account was so that you can connect with business recruiters and vice versa. Therefore, your profile is available to anyone and everyone (with a Linkedin account...

Week 4 - MKTG 6101 - Guerilla Marketing - Chapter 4

Image
Hello everyone! This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 4 in Guerilla Marketing ( https://www.amazon.com/Guerilla-Marketing-Inexpensive-Strategies-Business-dp-0618785914/dp/0618785914 ). Developing a Guerilla Marketing Plan Before you begin your guerilla marketing plan, you must develop a core story where you describe the real-life problem involving the customer you are trying to attract as well as the solution that you have for them. This core story can be the difference between customers choosing your company versus the competitor’s company because the core story allows your business to be more personalized . Furthermore, Levison states that the two most important things to succeed in guerilla marketing is: Start with a plan  Commit to that plan To develop the plan, you must do a few essential tasks prior. First you must engage in research, attend to all details, and give the situation/solution a lot of time and thought. This is a really simplified version of t...

Week 4 - MKTG 6101 - Ascend Your Startup - Chapter 4

Image
Hello everyone! This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 4 of Ascend Your Startup ( https://www.amazon.com/Ascend-Your-Start-Up-Disconnects-Accelerate/dp/1641466219 ). In the last two chapters, we spoke about defining your MVP (minimum viable product) and your MVT (minimum viable team). This week, we discuss how to Go From Market to Scale. This is done by asking yourself the following three questions and coming to a decision that would best fit your business: What distribution channel will you build as a pathway to customers? What is your pricing strategy? How will you help your customer’s customer scale and grow? One key aspect that author Helen Yu covers in Chapter 4 is the “product-market fit.” This is extremely important for new business owners to understand because in today’s business market, there are hundreds of businesses and products all competing towards the same industry. But as Yu perfectly describes it, you must first identify a product or service that...

Week 4 - MKTG 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami - Chapter 4

Image
Hello everyone! This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 4 in Surfing the Tsunami ( https://www.amazon.com/Surfing-Tsunami-Introduction-Artificial-Intelligence/dp/1976756340 ). In this chapter, we dive into Level 1: Adapt. To adapt to AI is to go from a passive to an active stance. We must stop letting the vital research, data, and information that has been made available to us pass us by. In doing so, we stand the chance of not becoming adequately prepared for the changes that AI is already making and the changes that are yet to come. By taking an active approach, we can move from a passerby perspective and actually begin to research and become more up-to-date with the changes and expected changes with AI. It can be very easy to sit back and not take the time to research because we’re either too preoccupied with our current lives or we simply do not care to research. To that I say, read Chapter 3 of Surfing the Tsunami and dive into the countless articles that stress ...

Hello everyone! This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 3 in Ascend Your Startup ( https://www.amazon.com/Ascend-Your-Start-Up-Disconnects-Accelerate/dp/1641466219 ). Last week, we took a look at Minimum Viable Product (MVP). In this week’s chapter of Ascend Your Startup, we take a look Minimum Viable Team (MVT) . So what is a Minimum Viable Team (MVT)? A minimum viable team is the smallest team possible to achieve a business’s purpose.  How a business defines their own MVT is unique but generally, MVT’s have 4 common criteria: Common purpose What is the goal the group/business wants to achieve? Clear roles Who plays which role in the team? Define the responsibilities of each role. Minimum number of employees Limit the number of individuals to only those who are essential and necessary for the objective to be met.  Measurable objectives  The goal should be achieved using measurable objectives. Without them, you may not be moving towards the goal...

Week 3 - MKTG 6101 - Surfing the Tsunami - Chapter 3

Image
Hello everyone! This post will be covering the content covered in Chapter 3 in Surfing the Tsunami ( https://www.amazon.com/Surfing-Tsunami-Introduction-Artificial-Intelligence/dp/1976756340 ). With over 50 articles exploring the data and truth about AI, author Todd Kelsey makes it clear that AI is here and has a direct impact on everyone and everything. You can either have a pessimistic or optimistic approach when considering AI and its impacts but Kelsey suggests becoming an AI realist and taking into consideration that AI has both positive and negative impacts. If you are only looking at data and articles that are on the extreme sides of the story, then you will ultimately be influenced and biased towards AI. For example, read through the following article: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/12/11/style/robots-jobs-children.html?_r=0   Imagine you only read that single article. I’m not sure how easily influenced you are, but I know that if I only read that article, I would be bias...
